2018 va secretary of education visits art students
We painted an NMS rock for Secretary Qarni to take home with him. He left one for us- he wrote "We rise by lifting others" we will add it to our garden.
2018 THANK you Vashti!
Author and Illustrator Vashti Harrison visited the art room to speak with the 6th graders about her work. Her book "Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History" inspired Mrs. Clark to create an art lesson for Black History Month where the students completed visual aids and did presentations on famous African American women from Vashti's book. The students really enjoyed her visit. Thank you Vashti for taking time out of your busy work schedule to come see the NMS art students!!!!
THANK YOU RED QUEEN GALLERY for the donation of art supplies to the art classroom at nms!
When Mrs. Clark returned from JMU in 2014, she became part of the family at the Red Queen Gallery in Onancock. Since then, she has been working there and enjoying the partnership between Nandua Middle and our local community of artists.

2014-2015 Art show
In June, the art students celebrated a successful year of art at the Red Queen. Many students showed up with their families to show off their work. I could not have been more proud of my students!
Artists in the classroom
Mrs. Clark has invited two artists into the classroom that show their work in the Red Queen. Both Gerald Stephan, painter and Robert Macaluso, photographer were invited to share with the art classes last year. The art tag group also went on a field trip to see jeweler, Karen Tweedie. Thanks to all of these artists for their participation in Nandua's art program during the 2014-2015 school year. Mrs. Clark is looking forward to having more visiting artists this year!
