Students designed and created backgrounds for self portraits. Andrea and Lucas are hanging them and testing the lighting and filters.
Some of the 8th grade artwork will be selected to appear next to the artists in our Plein Air Event.
8th graders are involved in a collaborative project with the Eastern Shore Land Trust called "Paint the Shore". My students are completing plein air paintings on school grounds and will have the opportunity to show and sell their work alongside professional artists in November.
Guest artist Laura McGowan visited the art room to share her Plein Air paintings as well as give students advice for beginning their own paintings. She later visited the students outside when they were painting. Students are currently waiting to hear which of their paintings are moving on to the show. Students were challenged to create personal websites using Wix or Weebly about something they knew a lot about. The sites were educational and are meant to teach. These examples are the best from the class. student websites for q3 2021.As this woman sits in a orange dress
Sleeping away all of her distress As we look at this scenery we feel a sudden bliss Maybe she's dreaming about her first kiss Now take in the colors Its a summer day But she is sleeping all of her time away Her dress is so bright But so dark It could light up the sky at midnight She is sleeping at peace So don't wake her Her sleep will then come to a cease Now take in this scenery But do not do one thing DO NOT LOOK OVER THIS PAINTING EAGERLY look at the surroundings and take it all in because you will not know where to begin and end -Ty’Asia Edwards 8th grade Drawing by Keira Wheatley Drawing by Lucy Watkins Transformation below by Payton Truckner.
